Pvt., 5th Virginia Infantry Regiment, Company A. Enlisted March 14, 1862 in Rude's Hill. Born 1827. AWOL, April 20, 1862. Returned October 1862. Sick November 24, 1862. Deserted from hospital, August 1863. Records indicate he enlisted, March 1, 1863, at Richmond or Staunton, as Pvt.; Company C, 39th Bn. Virginia Calvary (Richardson's Bn. of Scouts, Guides, and Couriers). Joined Company A, 5th Virginia Infantry, from desertion, and present in arrest, October 1863, for violation of 22nd Article of War (illegal re-enlistment). Absent, February 1864, no further record of his war career. Died at his home near Churchville, August 3, 1907. Funeral services from Union Church. Survived by 8 children.
