This Indenture, made the 16th day of June in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty one between Jacob Moneymaker and Elizabeth, his wife, of the county of Rockbridge and State of Virginia of the one part, and Henry Lucus of the County of Rockbridge and state for said of the other part. witness that the said Jacob Moneymaker and wife, for and in consideration of the sum of three hundred dollars lawful money of Virginia, to them in hand paid by the said Henry Lucus the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, hath granted, bargained, and sold, and by these presents do grant, bargain, and sell unto the said Henry Lucus his heirs and of signs a certain tract or parcel of land in the county of Rockbridge it being part of the tract of land devised by Lewis Moneymaker to his son Jacob Moneymaker containing by estimation thirty acres be the same more or less and bounded as follows: beginning at poplar stump in William Sprauls line and with his lines N 73, W 43 poles to two white oak and black oak sapling in said Sprauls line thence N 24, W 53 poles along John Guthries line to a hickory and black oak, and thence a long Moneymakers line N 73, S 100 poles to two white oak saplings and thence S 21 W 98 poles to the beginning together with all and singular the appurtenances there unto belonging or in any wise appertaining. To have and to hold, the said tract or parcel of land with its appurtenances unto the said Henry Lucus his heirs and ofsigns forever, to the only proper use and behoof of him the said Henry Lucus his heirs and ofsigns forever. And the said Jacob Moneymaker and wife for themselves their heirs, executors and administrators do covenant with said Henry Lucus his heirs and ofsigns that they the said Moneymaker and wife their heirs, executors and administrators the said tract or parcel of land with its appurtenances unto the said Lucus and his heirs and ofsigns against the claim or claims of them the said Lucus and their heirs, and of all and every person or persons whatsoever shall and will warrant and forever defend by these presents in witness where of the said Jacob Moneymaker and wife have hereunto set their hand and seals on the day and year first above written signed, sealed and delivered in the presence of~
