This Indenture, made the 30th day of August in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty six between Jacob Moneymaker and Elizabeth A., his wife, of the county of Rockbridge and state of Virginia of the one part, and David East of the County of Augusta and state foresaid of the other part. witness that the said Jacob Moneymaker and Elizabeth, his wife, for and in consideration of the sum of eight hundred and fifty five dollars, current money to them in hand paid by the said David East, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, have granted, bargained, and sold, and by these presents do grant, bargain, and sell unto the said David East his heirs, and ofsigns a certain tract or parcel of land lying and being in the said county of Rockbridge on the waters of Walker's Creek containing by estimation one hundred and seventy six acres one ____ and thirty two poles be the same more less part there of, being part of a tract of land which was devised to the said Jacob Moneymaker by the last will and testament of his father Lewis Moneymaker, bearing date the __ day of ____ and of record in the county court office of Rockbridge, and the _____ thereof being the same land which was conveyed by Samuel Clark trust of burdens representative to the said Jacob Moneymaker by deed bearing date the 29th day of August 1826 and intended to be recorded in the county court office above said, and bounded as follows beginning at a stake corner to made in his field and thence with his line. south eighty nine and a half degrees east ninety poles to about seven feet below a large poplar in George Glemmers line thence with his line and the line of John Potters heirs south thirty two degrees west one hundred and sixty poles to a stake on the top of a hill, corner of Potters heirs, and with another of their and the said Glemmers lines south thirty six and a half degrees, east one hundred and twelve and a fourth poles to the black oaks in Glemmers line, corner to Lucas , thence with his line south eighteen and a half degrees west sixty four poles to two white oaks south seventy two and a half degrees west, twelve and a half poles to a hickory and locust thence north eighteen degrees west, twenty nine pole to a stake corner to Ranson Miller and with his line. south seventy tree degrees west eighty three poles to a hickory in John Guthries line and with his lines north fifty three degrees west sixty five poles to a large white oak on a hill. north forty two and two third degrees west thirty four poles to four small chestnut trees in Lucas heirs line and north twenty five and a fourth degrees east two hundred and seventeen and a half poles to the beginning together with all and singular the appurtenances there unto belonging or in any wise appertaining. To have and to hold the said tract or parcel of land with its appurtenances unto the said David East his heirs and ofsigns to the only proper use and behoof of him the said David East his heirs and ofsigns forever, and the said Jacob Moneymaker and wife for themselves their heirs, executors and administrators do covenant with said David East his heirs and ofsigns that they the said Jacob Moneymaker and wife their heirs, executors and administrators the said tract or parcel of land with its appurtenances unto the said David East his heirs and ofsigns against the claim or claims of them the said Jacob Moneymaker and wife and their heirs and of all and every person or persons whatsoever shall and will warrant and forever defend by these presents. In testimony where of the said Jacob Moneymaker and wife have hereunto set their hand and seals on the day and year first above written.
